> One of the most consistent objections to Land Value Tax is that “land can’t be valued separately from improvements,” a complaint I initially addressed in my article series, later published as a chapter in my book, Land is a Big Deal.

See also my under-review paper, which uses simulations and empirical data from Philadelphia to show that in some conditions, which Philly seems to satisfy, land can be assessed more equitably than total property. :)

If you’ve never visited South Korea, you’re missing out on some of the best planned housing developments in the world. Korean style apartment complexes include underground parking and onsite playgrounds, kindergartens, fountains, community centers, gardens and outdoor seating areas. Inside the apartments are nice and modern as well. They are typically much smaller than big American houses but the convenience of everything you need being a short walk away is worth the trade off. Building “up” instead of “out” leaves more room for outdoor parks and agriculture. The density means most “daily errands” type stuff is within walking distance and for things that are further away, the public transportation is top notch.
